Our Tendersweet cabbage is a wonderful early summer green with long storability. It is delicious either raw (in slaw, on tacos, or quick pickled) or cooked (in a stir-fry, sauteed with onions, or braised).
Our new crop cilantro is loving this cool spring weather. 2 bunches are approximately 1/3lb and will last for at least a week. Wonderful raw or cooked.
Eggplant - Mix Bag
We grow a number of different delicious varieties of eggplant and always harvest when small to medium to avoid any excessive bitterness or toughness. This highly versatile & hearty crop is made for Virginia summers. Types may include our italian round (rosa bianca or beatrice), middle eastern teardrop shaped (purple dancer & striped antigua), or asian long (thai green, purple shoyu, & pink charm).
Fennel bulb is a delicious aromatic, fabulous in salads, added to a pasta sauce (think anchovy, caper, garlic, & fennel) or braised in stock with onions or garlic and eaten as a decadent side. The fronds and stem can even be used to flavor steamed mussels or clams.
